Rafting on the Lake Fork of the Gunnison is an experience you do not want to miss! When the 14,000 foot surrounding peaks are shedding their winter coat, the Lake Fork rises to the challenge and offers a great family canyon trip as well as a Class IV whitewater run. We will meet you at the river just outside town to start your adventure of a lifetime.
Located between Lake City and Blue Mesa Reservoir, the Lake Fork is an early season gem. The Upper Box Canyon is extremely picturesque and remote, with unique landmarks such as Crying Elephant Rock and the Bat Cave. Class II rapids provide excitement for the whole family, and the contrasting tranquility of the trip will leave you talking about this as the highlight of your summer!
The Lower Lake Fork is a fast paced Class IV whitewater run. A few big drops punctuated with a long rapid named Rattlesnake will challenge any boater. Limited season from mid-May thru early July, when the snow recedes and the mountain trails begin.
