Class II Whitewater Rapids on the Taylor River
Scenic and exciting, the Lower Taylor River trip is our “in-between” trip. Kids as young as 8 are welcome, as long as they weigh at least 60 pounds to fit into a proper PFD.
For those not quite ready for the Class III Upper Taylor the Lower Taylor is a fun Class II rafting trip. The Taylor River is a classic high alpine river with majestic canyon walls on either side and soaring pine trees lining the canyon. About 2 hours rafting on the water, you’ll experience mild whitewater and great scenery.
Wildlife often peeks out from behind the bushes. A quick half hour drive from either Crested Butte or Gunnison, you will meet at our Boathouse in Taylor Canyon and we’ll take care of the quick and easy shuttle to the river from there.
We recommend that you bring a lunch with you if you are on the morning trip. Taylor Canyon is a beautiful place to stop and smell the roses while fueling up for your next adventure. We can provide refrigeration for you while you are on the river, or even loan you a cooler. We will fill you in on the best riverside lunch spot if you ask! Bring your fishing gear!
